Four New Hotel Openings in New York State

Recent openings in New York State include a Hyatt Regency within the Resorts World New York City complex, a hotel at LEGOLAND Resort in Goshen and two properties in Manhattan.

Hyatt Regency JFK Airport at Resorts World New York

Hyatt Regency JFK Airport at Resorts World New York, an eight-story luxury hotel, has opened in Queens, NY. The property features 400 residential-inspired guestrooms and premium suites, as well as Sugar Factory Restaurant, a fitness center, 5,000 sq. ft. of conference and meeting spaces and additional gaming areas. The hotel’s centerpiece is a grand lobby that connects to Resorts World New York City casino.

The $400-million hotel and amenities investment has long been part of owner Genting’s vision of bringing a destination resort, popular in global locations such as Las Vegas and Singapore, to New York City, the company reports. This development brings the total investment in Resorts World New York City to more than $1.1 billion after Genting spent more than $700 million to enhance the existing Aqueduct race course grandstand to become a leading entertainment destination. The hotel addition has created hundreds of careers for New Yorkers and will provide additional revenue for New York State’s Lottery Education Fund.

Besides Sugar Factory, additional food and beverage options include a Grab n’ Go market and the Regency Club exclusive to members.

LEGOLAND New York Hotel

LEGOLAND New York Hotel, part of LEGOLAND New York Resort, has opened in Goshen, NY.

The 250-room property, near the theme park’s entrance arch, is the only LEGO-themed hotel in the Northeast, with guestrooms and suites designed in four themes: Pirates, Kingdom, LEGO Friends and LEGO NINJAGO. The hotel also features LEGO models and immersive play areas throughout the property.

Amenities include a Castle play area for children, more than 2,000 interactive LEGO models created out of thousands of LEGO bricks, Bricks Family Restaurant, a heated resort-style pool, an arcade and a Little Big Shop.

Each guestroom includes a Google Nest; a separate sleeping area for children, equipped with a bunk bed, pull-out trundle bed and an entertainment unit; and two high-definition, flat-panel TVs with complimentary on-demand content.

Hyatt Centric 39th & 5th New York

Hyatt Hotels Corporation has opened Hyatt Centric 39th & 5th New York, the lifestyle brand’s second hotel in New York City. The 22-story property features 162 guestrooms, including six suites.

The hotel’s modern architecture and interiors, designed by New Jersey-based VLDG, reflect the spirit and elegance of the Gilded Age in New York City, the company reports. It includes artful touches that pay homage to the city’s historic Fifth Avenue neighborhood, and features a vibrant color palette, floral motifs throughout, velvet pieces and Art Nouveau-style gold steel light fixtures.

The property’s guestrooms feature a jewel-toned color palette; leather headboards; illuminating lights underneath the bed and behind the headboard; antique gold floor length mirrors; velvet plush seating; and a floral stitched curtain design. They also include complimentary WiFi, dedicated reading lights on either side of the bed, USB outlets for device charging, 55-in. HDTVs, rainfall shower heads and a Drybar Buttercup blow dryer.

Additional amenities and services include Hyatt Stayfit Gym; restaurant-to-go service; a 24-hour Lobby Market which will offer a full barista bar in the coming months; full-service concierge; and laundry and dry-cleaning services.

Smyth Tribeca

More than a decade after making its debut, Smyth Tribeca opens its doors as a newly independent neighborhood hotel. Located in the heart of TriBeCa, the hotel originally opened as a Thompson hotel in 2009 on the site of a former Marine Midland Bank bank. It then became the AKA Hotel in 2018 and has reopened as the Smyth under the management of Highgate.

The hotel’s 100 guestrooms include floor-to-ceiling windows, marble bathrooms and views of lower Manhattan. Among Smyth Tribeca’s 16 suites are The Penthouse offering 1,200 sq. ft. of indoor space equipped with a full kitchen; a living and dining room; two bathrooms; a master bedroom and an 800-sq.-ft. terrace. The 1,000-sq.-ft. Smyth Suite includes a living area and dining table with seating for eight, a workstation, two bathrooms and a 300-sq.-ft. private terrace.

Scheduled for late 2021, the food and beverage program will include a new restaurant, lobby bar and private event space.
